Functionally a retaining wall keeps soil from eroding down a slope and used to create a level area. Incorporating plants will create beauty and interest in your garden.

It is important that your retaining wall is built by a Qualified Landscaper who is a licenced Building Practitioner, experienced in building Retaining Walls of all heights and understands the basic engineering requirements. Unfortunately the cheaper quote is often the most attractive, however if not constructed by a licenced professional, you may find yourself wasting time and money. Str8line Landscaping has worked with a number of clients who have done just this, and have then required our team to rip the wall down and construct the walls from scratch. When working with a licenced landscaper, you have the peace of mind that you are dealing with a professional, as well as the added benefit of being able to purchase warranty insurance through the Victorian Building Commission.

The majority of retaining walls will require extensive footings, engineer's reports and inspection by a building surveyor to obtain Council permits. Str8line Landscaping can advise you about the permits your project will require and assist you in obtaining Council approval or attain the permits on your behalf.

Retaining walls can be constructed from timber, sleepers, besser blocks, bricks or random stone.
